Registered Psychologist

Jennifer Spriddle Psychological Services Inc.

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to view the Associates Counselling website! I am a Registered Psychologist whose primary interest is peak performance, whether that be in sport, performance, business or life. I firmly believe that “every path has its puddle” and that it is normal to encounter challenges and difficulties as we attempt to live our best lives possible. What we learn from our challenges and how we move forward as a result of these challenges is key to my therapeutic approach. As an unbiased and person centered practitioner, I use therapeutic techniques primarily from cognitive behavioural and solution focused therapies to help you thrive.

I have two grown children who continue to keep my life interesting.  I have been a member of the Runners Soul Marathon Club for a number of years. I love to trail run in the coulees and spend time walking with my husband and Golden Retriever.

Experience:

Growing up in Lethbridge, I was involved in many activities but I particularly loved figure skating. I spent many of my formative years within the ice rinks. As I grew up and became more competitive, I often found it difficult to cope with the pressure that I had put upon myself to “perform”. That led me to my interest in peak performance. I completed my Bachelor of Physical Education at the University of Alberta. From there, I attended the University of British Columbia where I completed a Masters of Physical Education specializing in the Psychology of Sport. After teaching at Capilano College for a few years, I returned to Lethbridge. I worked as a sport psychology consultant and as a skating instructor while my kids were young. When they started school, I completed a Masters in Education (Counselling Psychology) at the University of Lethbridge. While completing my course work, I worked as a counsellor at Family Centre as I obtained my credentialing to become a Registered Psychologist. I have been working in private practice at Associates Counselling since 2005.

While at Associates Counselling Services, I work with teens and adults who are interested in obtaining peak performance in their endeavors (performance, sport, business).
I also work with adults experiencing mental health challenges (depression, anxiety), grief and loss, and trauma. As a trained mediator and “divorce coach”, I work with parents going through a collaborative separation/divorce process to support the development of an effective co-parenting relationship.

I spend part of my work week at the Canadian Back Institute, working collaboratively with their health care providers to support clients who have experienced physical injuries and/or traumatic psychological injuries .
