Hello, My name is Mike Seguin, and I am currently a graduate practicum student in the Master of Counselling Applied Psychology program at the University of Lethbridge. I hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Addiction Counselling and have accumulated seven years of experience in the addiction and mental health fields. My professional background includes employment as an Addiction Counsellor with Alberta Health Services and working as a sessional lecturer at the University of Lethbridge in the Faculty of Health Sciences’ Addiction Counselling Program.
In addition to my formal education, I am completing training as Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT Candidate) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals, as well as Gottman Couples Therapy Level 1 & 2.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, emphasizing the importance of attachment patterns and life experiences. I incorporate a range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive and behavioral techniques, emotionally focused strategies, mindfulness practices, and psychoeducation.
I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for clients to address and explore their challenges, underlying issues, and concerns. My goal is to facilitate understanding and personal growth, helping clients achieve balance in their lives as they define it.
I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, addiction and compulsive behaviors, anxiety, ADHD, and grief and loss.
